Island Peak Climb leads you above (6,160m and 20,328ft) high, rewards you with exceptional panorama from its summit top, overlooking Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), Mt. Nuptse (7,855m), Mt. Pumori (7,161m), Amadablam (6,812m), Khangtiaga (6,782m), Tharmarserku (6,623m), Kongde (6,011m), as far towards world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu (8,463m) with Lobuche Peak (6,119m) and Pokhalde Peak (5,806m).
A small scale mountaineering climb with an adventure in one of Nepal Himalaya most striking trekking peaks on top Island Peak, also called Imjatse Himal due to its location in the middle of scenic and beautiful Imjatse valley, near Dingboche and Chukung settlement.
The grade of Island Peak Climb graded as PD + which means in French and Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification as ‘Per Difficule’ a straight-forward climb with some technical skill required in some section of the climb, where our expert guides supports you all the way to the summit and assist safely back.

Walk starts from Lukla after a short exciting flight from Kathmandu where our route leads into nice farm villages of Sherpa interwoven with fascinating and impressive Buddhist religion and culture, with time to immerse within its old traditional custom with tour of old monastery on route trekking.
Having rest days for acclimatization at colorful large village of Namche Bazaar and then walking higher areas to Thyangboche Monastery surrounded by array of peaks and serene woodland, as our adventure continues first reaching at Everest base camp, and then heading towards our main goal and highlight at the base of Island Peak.
After enough walking exercise on high altitude with final preparation at the base camp where an early morning climb leads you on top of Island peak with strenuous and tough ascent to reach the summit, where you feel in high spirit after accomplishing great success and then head back to Lukla for sweeping flight to Kathmandu to complete this wonderful adventure on Island peak climb.
We will welcome you at the international airport and guide you through the initial culture shock of Kathmandu’s narrow, winding streets to get you settled into your hotel.
In the afternoon (depending on your arrival time) we can take you on a bazaar walk exploring the secret alleys and courtyards of old Kathmandu that most visitors don’t get to experience.
We begin by walking into the old city and exploring the small alleyways, myriad of hidden temples belonging to both Hinduism and Buddhism (in some cases, both!) and make our way through local bazaars of fruit, vegetables, spices and stunning wares made of brass, bronze and copper. Not only exotic produce, but a fascinating mix of people are everywhere; along with the brightly clad locals of the Kathmandu Valley, you’re likely to see ‘Gurkhas’, Sherpa women in their striped aprons, traders from India, and sadhus – Hindu holy men – perhaps on pilgrimage to one of the many temples and shrines of the valley. After the breakfast, your guided tour will start where you will be taken to most of the historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage sites like Durbar Square, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath), the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath’ and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where you can ask any questions regarding your upcoming adventure. Overnight in Kathmandu.
All treks to Everest begin from Luka where you will be flying to, early in the morning. The flight will be an interesting one since you will be flying amidst the grand Himalayas. The short trek to Phakding begins immediately after you land at Lukla Airport. You will be at a Cheplung village from where you can have a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila. From Cheplung, you’ll continue descending to Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.
The trek begins on uphill and downhill trails with multiple crossings over Dudh Koshi River and a magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku from the Benkar village. You’ll cross more bridges and reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where the trekking permits are checked. You’ll have to walk furthermore and pass through Jorsale village before reaching Namche Bazaar. From there, you’ll get beautiful views of the Himalayas including Everest, Lhotse, Tawache and others. In the afternoon (depending on your arrival time) we can take you on a bazaar walk exploring the secret alleys and courtyards of old Kathmandu that most visitors don’t get to experience.
This is the first of the three scheduled rest days which will help you acclimatize to the high altitude. You are going to spend the day enjoying small hikes in and around Namche Bazaar. You’ll hike up to Everest View Hotel to enjoy admirable views of the Himalayan peaks. On the way back to Namche you’ll also tour the Khumjung Monastery and Hillary School. Today’s trek begins on an easy trail to Phunki Thanga. From here you’ll ascend towards Tengboche village which is home to the largest monastery in the Everest region. The monastery is located within the Sagarmatha National Park and provide panoramic views of the highest mountains on earth including Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse and Lhotse. Yoy’ll have to trek down for about half an hour through a forest before crossing a river. You’ll pass by a traditional Sherpa village of Pangboche before reaching Pheriche. Overnight in Pherice.
Today you can take proper rest. You can also get to explore the valley, the Tshola Tsho lake and the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. You can also enjoy the view of the Imja Valley and Mt. Lhotse. Overnight in Pherice.
You have to trek along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials. You’ll continue to climb as you are heading to the village of Lobuche which is located at the foot of the giant Lobuche peak. Overnight in Lobuche.
You’ll have to moves along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. You can see the crest of the north ridge of Everest along with Pumori, Mahalangur, Lingtern, Khumbutse, Nuptse and other mountains. A short walk takes you to Thangma Riju from where you can admire panoramic views of the various peaks. You’ll need to ascend on a steep trail up to the top of Changri Glacier. As you reach Gorak Shep, you are surrounded by the Himalayas. You have to pass through rocky dunes, moraines and streams before reaching the base camp of the world’s tallest mountain, Everest. From there you can admire Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori mountains. You need to trek back to Gorak Shep to spend the night. Overnight in Gorakshep.
You have to prepare for an early morning departure, amid pre-dawn darkness and cold temperatures (-10 to -14 C). Plus, there is always the potential for chilly winds which are quite common. You’ll see peaks like Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower. But, it is upon reaching Kala Patthar that you’ll get to see 360 degree up-close and formidable views of Mt. Everest. You can take pictures, enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama, and then return back to Gorak Shep, the groups will have breakfast and descend down to Lobuche for a good night’s rest. You’ll pass by Imja Khola valley and Bibre to reach Chhukung. On the way, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic view of Ama Dablam and the Amphu Labsa mountains. After reaching Chhukung, you can take rest. Overnight in Chhukung.
Today You’ll get to take rest at Chhukung. You can climb Chhukung Ri to adjust your body to the high altitude. You’ll get to enjoy fantastic view of Ama Dablam and Amphu Labsa peaks. Overnight in Chhukung.
After the breakfast, you’ll have to start the trek where you need to climb south then turn east to the main line of the valley. You have to walk on a winding path below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier along the route to the Amphu Lapcha. You’ll soon reach Island Peak Base Camp for over night. Overnight in Island Peak base camp.
Today is the main day where you’ll have to ascend up to the Island Peak (6,189m). The summit to the top will start in the early morning around 1 am. The climb will be very exciting. After you reach the top, you can enjoy the views & take pictures. You’ll then descend back to Chukkung for a night stay. Overnight in Chhukung.
Today walk will be a chance to take it easy, as you will descend into drastically lower altitudes to Chhukung. From Chhukung, descend into the valley of the Imja Khola past Orsho and into Pangbuche along a moderate trail. Quickly check out the Gompa at Pangbuche if you didn’t get a chance going up last time, and continue your descent over a bridge and through a forest to Tengbuche, where you may spot native musk deer and pheasants.
After reaching Tengbuche, descend to the river at Phungi Thanga and climb slightly through swaths of pine trees up to Kyangjoma, the final destination for today. Here, Tibetan traders thrive, the temperature is pleasant, and oxygen in the air is plentiful. Overnight in Kyangjoma.
This morning, you will finally return to the lowlands after your last high-altitude treks. Set in a backdrop that offers amazing views of Thamserku and Kangtaiga, you will descend into Namche below and get a chance to visit the local market. Depending on the day, the markets may be bustling with activity as different groups of people gather. Stalls sell everything from rice, eggs, and beer to shoes, kitchen pots, and CDs — all of which used to be carried up by porters before the market was established. If you arrive on a Saturday, you can watch as local Sherpas come in from distant villages to stock up on supplies and replenish the tea houses.
Later in the afternoon, continue your descent into the warmer valley and shed a few layers of clothing. The trek is relatively relaxing, and eventually, you will be back in the Dudhkoshi Valley. Pass your last checkpoint for the day at Jorsale and stop at Monjo. Overnight in Monjo.
You have to descend steeply to Chauri Kharka. On the way you’ll pass Phakding and Cheplung villages. You’ll have a night stay at Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.
You’ll have a flight to Kathmandu in the morning. After reaching the capital city, you have the rest of the day off. You can take a rest in the hotel room or shop for souvenirs for your loved ones. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Today is your last day in Kathmandu and is an opportunity to do all the bits and pieces you thought of doing over the past few weeks including any last-minute shopping, returning to places that you enjoyed or didn’t get a chance to visit before your trek. It’s your last day in Nepal! You can grab some breakfast, and then take in some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We’ll make sure you arrive the Kathmandu International Airport with plenty of time before your flight to home. This time, we’ll be saying our goodbyes and bid you farewell, armed with warm memories and gorgeous photos to show your loved ones.
