Langtang – Helambu via Ganja La Trekking, a special adventure that might lead to challenging activities in snow conditions on crossing high and scenic Ganja-La above (5,121m and 16,801ft) offers a tremendous panorama of surrounding Langtang Himal.
Langtang – Helambu via Ganja La Trekking, where few adventurers often venture this awesome traverse from Langtang valley to reach at Helambu areas with its impressive villages of Hyalmo people, a tribe with similar culture and custom of Sherpa and Tamang Buddhist religion.
A great combination of adventure which leads you from sub-tropical areas to cooler alpine forest covered by tall rhododendron-oaks-hemlocks-pines and fir trees, as walk leads further high where tree lines drop to dwarf bushes of rhododendron and juniper with prickly Burberry shrubs, facing an amazing panorama of peaks that surrounds Langtang valley at Kyanjin.
At Kyanjin with a rest day to support acclimatization before crossing high and scenic Ganja-la pass where a short climb and hike rewards you with an awesome panorama of Langtang Himal range with Ganesh Himal (7,405m), Langtang Lirung (7,234m), Ghengu Liru (Langtang II 6,571m), Kimshun (6,745m) and Shalbachum (6,918m), Chimsedang, Naya-Kanga or Ganja Chuli (5,846m), Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak, Jugal Himal and ending towards the eastern horizon at Dorje Lakpa (6,980m).
With pleasant overnight stops at Kyanjin in the comfort of a nice and cozy lodge, from here onwards into the complete wilderness with camping facilities, as the areas beyond located away from human settlement and villages as walk leads another side of Langtang valley at the base of Ganja-la pass.
Starting early morning crossing high Ganja-la pass and then descend towards Helambu region with camping for few nights till walks leads at cultural Helambu villages populated by indigenous Hyalmo people.
From Helambu exploring its lovely villages and monasteries and then downhill to warmer low areas to reach a road-head for the drive back to Kathmandu, after a remarkable and fascinating adventure on Langtang – Helambu via Ganja La Trekking.

Welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. It’s a panoramic thrill flying into Kathmandu on a clear day. The views of snow-capped mountain peaks sprawling down below you are almost ecstatic, beginning a whole chain of memorable experiences that stay with you for a long, long time. And as your plane hits the tarmac, our waiting support team will meet and greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Welcome drinks will be served and after time in getting refreshed, that evening you will be invited to a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu. You will also receive a trip briefing before retiring for the night at the hotel.

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath’ and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, you will be introduced to your trip guide and there will be a pre-trip discussion as well as provides opportunity to ask any last-minute questions you may have regarding your trip.

We leave Kathmandu in the morning for Syabrubesi, a village which is also the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley. Our journey will be on a winding road through frequent switchbacks. On a clear day we get to enjoy outstanding views of Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal. Our trip for today ends with a descent into the small village of Syabrubesi.

After breakfast, we begin our trek to Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. We ascend and descend simultaneously through oak and rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), we ascend on a steep trail which will lead us to the Lama Hotel.

We continue ascending from Lama Hotel and enjoy the mountain landscape with abundant waterfalls. As we reach the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela, we begin to see the white peaks of the Langtang range. Our trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders. We pass a Buddhist monastery before reaching the Langtang village which was affected by the April 2015 earthquake.

After breakfast, we will start our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. We pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. We also pass by the largest mani wall in Langtang region, made from stone with prayers written on them. After the short trek, we spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.

You will spend the whole day exploring Tserko Ri which will also help you to acclimatize the high altitude. Early morning trek leads you to Tserko Ri from where the sunrise view is seen extraordinary. You will get back to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon exploring the beautiful monastery and enjoying views of the Himalayas, glaciers, birds and yaks.

After having breakfast, you will embark on today’s journey to Ganja La Phedi crossing the Langtang river and ascending through rhododendron forests. Being in high altitude, the time to get to the destination also depends upon the season of the trek. In the winter snow, it might take a longer time to cross the snow strewn path.

Today you will cross the Ganja La pass. Ganja la pass which is covered with snow almost throughout the year, is one of the difficult pass. Making the long ascent through the boulders and passing the small lakes you will summit the Ganja La which is situated on a rocky moraine. You will get to enjoy the spectacular views from the pass. From the pass, you will descend down to Keldang.

You will be trekking from Keldang to Yak Kharka. From Keldang, you will descend further down following a prominent ridgeway. The altitude will decrease as you go down through forests, ridges and grasslands.

With the decrease in altitude considerably, about (1,500m), your trail would be similar, except that as you descend lower, you will notice more vegetation.

You will cross a small forest with the view of beautiful village of Helembu region. You’ll pass by a village where the people practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism, the same as the national religion of Bhutan.

Today, you will have to walk down to Melamchi Pul. Catch private vehicles and travel along a bumpy gravel path up to Lamidanda then follow the metalled road up to Kathmandu. Where you’ll have the rest of the day to relax or explore, at your pleasure.

This will be a spare day in Kathmandu after the tiring trekking program. We can stroll around the streets in Thamel, a popular Tourist hub in Kathmandu for some souvenir shopping. You may also visit popular tourist attractions nearby. Either way, there will be celebration of an amazing trip, you will be our guests tonight as we host a farewell dinner at an excellent Nepalese restaurant in town.
