Tent Peak-Tharpu Chuli Climb is an amazing adventure that leads you to the foot of the world’s tenth highest Mt. Annapurna 8,091 m the first eight-thousander meter mountains ever climbed in the history of mountaineering, even before Everest was conquered.
Tent Peak-Tharpu Chuli Climb is one of the massive ranges of great Annapurna Himalaya located within a scenic and beautiful sanctuary enclosed with an array of high peaks, where Tent Peak rises at above 5,663 m and 18,575 ft high.
The name Tent Peak is due to its shape of a tent, a rocky mountain with ice snow also known as Tharpu Chuli by its original local name and as listed on NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association).
The peak name was christened by early pioneers and explorers to Annapurna base camp and sanctuary way back in the early 1960s by Col. Jimmy Roberts finding routes for British Expeditions.

An adventure of fewer than two weeks duration where veterans and beginners, with interest in mountaineering, can join in this scenic and wonderful journey, with an adventurous climb on top of Tent Peak-Tharpu Chuli, where our expert guides support you all the way to the top and safely back.
Starting with an interesting drive to scenic and beautiful Pokhara within Nepal Mid-West, where walk leads you from the warm low valley towards cooler region on high hills and mountains filled with enchanting woodland.
As a walk follows through several Gurung villages interwoven with Buddhist religion and culture, heading into Modi River gorge then reaching high at marvelous high terrain within Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp.
With much time for acclimatization and preparation heading beyond sanctuary to reach our target at Tent Peak-Tharpu Chuli base camp, where climb leads through moraine and ice within icy streams and glaciers.
The climb with technical effort in some section of the route and finally reaching the high summit of Tent Peak or Tharpu Chuli facing glorious views of mountains that surrounds you at the top.
After a great experience and adventure on Tent Peak – Tharpu Chuli climb heading back to Pokhara with grand memories of Annapurna Himalaya with the climb of classic and beautiful ascent on top Tent Peak.

Welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. It’s a panoramic thrill flying into Kathmandu on a clear day. The views of snow-capped mountain peaks sprawling down below you are almost ecstatic, beginning a whole chain of memorable experiences that stay with you for a long, long time. And as your plane hits the tarmac, our waiting support team will meet and greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Welcome drinks will be served and after time in getting refreshed, that evening you will be invited to a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu. You will also receive a trip briefing before retiring for the night at the hotel.

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath’ and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, you will be introduced to your trip guide and there will be a pre-trip discussion as well as provides opportunity to ask any last-minute questions you may have regarding your trip.

After breakfast, we leave Kathmandu and drive for 7 hours we travel to Pokhara by tourist bus, or car depending upon the number in your group with the mission of trekking Annapurna Base Camp via Dhampus Phedi. You will be walking through exciting panorama of river and landscape. On the other hand, you might take a flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu which takes half an hour. Then, you will get into the hotel and you relax in the afternoon on your own. You can visit around lakeside region or you can go for boating at Fewa Lake.

We drive to Phedi from Pokhara and begin our trek to Dhampus. Dhumpus is a pleasant Gurung village which offers splendid views of Himchuli, Annapurna south and Fishtails. Then our path moves up all the way through Pothana village with the scenic views of Mt. Annapurna South, Mt. Fishtail and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Walk leads us to Deurali which is the highest point of the trek. Then our track moves down to Bhise Kharka through thick rainforest then go on ascending up to Tolka. From Tolka we can observe wonderful views of mountain range.

Today, our trail goes down to Landrung through oak forest, terraced fields, pleasant village. Landrung is charming village of Gurung, Magar, Brahmins. Once more our path moves down and up to Jhinudanda where we get chance to relax at hot spring of Modi River. After bath our trail ascends up to Chhomrong with the huge views of Annapurna South, Himchuli and Fishtail.

We leave Chhomrong along the Modi Khola leaving behind inhabited foothills into the high step and wooded slopes of Himalayas. We cross the suspension bridge then trek up to Sinuwa Danda. The ascent from Sinuwa becomes somewhat flatter. The trail passes through thick and dark rhododendron forest up to Khuldighar. Then, we descend a long and steep stone steps into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests through which we reach Bamboo. After gentle climb of 1 ½ hours walking, finally we reach our destination at Dovan for overnight.

From Dovan we walk on a trail alongside Modi Khola. We pass through Himalaya hotel and Hinku Cave before reaching Deurali. On today’s short trip we also have to walk on a small section which is prone to avalanche. The short trek will allow us to acclimatize to the high altitude and prepare for the next day’s trip.

After about a half an hour walk from Deurali, we will find ourselves in the middle of a river bed surrounded by giant snow-covered mountains. The hike to Machhapuchre Base Camp is somewhat strenuous but the unfolding views of the majestic Machhapuchre is certainly worth it. We enjoy looking at Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and, of course, the Fishtail or Machhapuchhare itself.

Another short day today, as it is a fairly gentle ascent from our camp to Annapurna South Base Camp, and a distance of only about 4 kilometers or 2½ miles. Increasingly impressive views reward us for our efforts as we climb the last steep section before reaching the basecamp area. The afternoon is free to relax and admire one of the most stunning mountain amphitheatres in the Himalaya. Optionally, if conditions and route permit there’s a chance to walk out towards the Annapurna Base Camp.

Today our climbing guide will brief about glacial trail conditions and organize a basic training on peak climbing techniques, concerning the climbing gears such as ice axe, climbing boot with crampons, harness, jumar, and ascent and rappel down using ropes. The instruction will help to increase the confidence of individuals ensuring a successful summit of the Tent Peak. We can spend the rest of the afternoon going for short hikes nearby and resting.

We move ahead on a trail alongside the Annapurna glaciers and cross over moraines. Walking on Glacier is quite difficult and need to be sensible while walking. The trail from the glacier leads straight ahead and cross a bridge to continue further up until we reach the Base camp.

Ascend on a steep trail to the Tent Peak (Tharpu Chuli) High Camp. Probability to use rope and helmet while climbing. Cross steep section 50-60 degree and walk on the glacier gradual up. From the high camp catch panoramic views of Hiunchuli 6,441 m, Annapurna South 7,229 m, Annapurna I 8,091 m), Machhapuchhre. Setting up the high camp, crews prepares hot lunch rest of the day is to discover the surrounding areas and planning for the summit.

We begin our journey to the summit around 2-3 am in the morning. We walk on a wall rock for around 2 hours and then we walk on flat snow for around an hour. Next, we climb on a steep slope of 70 degrees (100m). Then we walk on a flat trail for around 30 minutes and reach the summit of Tent Peak/ Tharpu Chuli. We climb on fix ropes to reach the final summit. After conquering Tharpu Chuli, we return by the same route to the high camp.

From the high camp of Tent peak we descend to Machapuchhre base camp. We use the same trail that we had used previously. After reaching Machapuchhre base camp, we take a much-needed rest.

From the base camp we descend on the same trail we used coming up to Bamboo. We can enjoy views of waterfalls and pass through forests soaking in great views of Machapuchhre and Hiunchuli mountains.

Leaving Dovan we have a vertical way up to the Kuldi Ghar then Sinuwa, following the stone steps that take us to Lower Chhomrong. After that, we ascend on the stony steps that lead us to Upper Chhomrong.

Today, we move down again to the next river and after going across the suspension bridge we have to go up for about another one and half hour before we get to the most stunning village in the Annapurna region entitled Ghandrung the biggest Gurung village in Nepal, village of Gurkha Warriors.

Today we will directly drive from Ghandruk today. Previously it wasn’t possible and we had to trek to Nayapul. The drive will be in the dirt and uneven road until Nayapul which is about 2 hours of the total drive. From Nayapul, the road is paved in concrete and the drive will be more gentle comparatively. Once you reach Pokhara in 4 hours from Ghandruk, you will have the remaining day to yourself. You can shower, relax, go for stroll around the Lakeside and have downtime.

After breakfast today, we will escort you to the domestic airport for your return flight to Kathmandu, where you will have the rest of the day to relax or explore, at your pleasure.

Today is your last day in Kathmandu and is an opportunity to do all the bits and pieces you thought of doing over the past few weeks including any last-minute shopping, returning to places that you enjoyed or didn’t get a chance to visit before your trek.
