After an early breakfast at your hotel, we leave Kathmandu and begin our scenic overland journey toward the Annapurna region. Traveling by comfortable tourist-standard private vehicle, we follow the beautiful Prithvi Highway, one of Nepal’s most scenic roads, passing through picturesque countryside, terraced hillsides, traditional villages, lively market towns, and fertile river valleys.
The journey follows the Trishuli River before reaching Mugling, where we turn north and continue alongside the beautiful Marsyangdi River. As we gradually gain elevation, the scenery changes from subtropical landscapes to lush forests, cascading waterfalls, steep river gorges, and towering Himalayan foothills. Along the way, you will enjoy your first distant views of the snow-capped mountains while experiencing everyday life in rural Nepal.
We make several comfortable stops throughout the day to stretch our legs, enjoy tea or coffee, and take photographs. Lunch is served at a clean local restaurant along the route before continuing our drive through Besisahar, the traditional gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, and onward to Dharapani.
Arriving in Dharapani by late afternoon or early evening, check into your comfortable teahouse and take some time to relax while enjoying the peaceful mountain surroundings. As you continue deeper into the Annapurna Conservation Area, the scenery becomes increasingly spectacular. The trail passes through the small settlements of Bagarchhap, Danaque, Timang, and Thanchok, where you can observe the daily life of local mountain communities while enjoying magnificent views of Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, and other snow-capped peaks.
The route alternates between gentle climbs and easy sections, crossing several suspension bridges and passing waterfalls, prayer wheels, colorful mani walls, and traditional Buddhist chortens that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region.

As the valley gradually widens, the landscape begins to change from dense forests to more open alpine terrain. Along the way, you will pass the small settlements of Bhratang and Dhukur Pokhari, where apple orchards, traditional stone houses, and colorful prayer flags add to the charm of the journey.
One of today’s highlights is crossing a long suspension bridge before reaching the magnificent Pisang Valley, where the breathtaking north face of Pisang Peak (6,091 m) rises dramatically above the village. From here, we follow the upper trail to Upper Pisang, a traditional Tibetan-influenced village renowned for its ancient monastery, prayer walls, and spectacular panoramic views.

Rather than remaining inactive, we recommend a short hike to one of the nearby viewpoints. Depending on your fitness level, weather conditions, and your guide’s recommendation, you may hike to Gangapurna Lake and Glacier Viewpoint, Chongkor Viewpoint, or visit the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) Aid Post, where informative presentations on altitude sickness and mountain safety are often available.
These optional hikes not only help with acclimatization but also reward you with magnificent views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Tilicho Peak, and the surrounding glaciers and mountain landscapes.

The trail passes through the small settlement of Khangsar, one of the last traditional villages before entering the remote Tilicho Valley. Beyond the village, the landscape becomes increasingly wild and breathtaking as the path traverses rocky hillsides, glacial streams, and impressive cliffs beneath towering Himalayan peaks.
Around midday, we stop for lunch at a local teahouse before continuing along the scenic trail. Although some sections are narrow and require careful footing, the spectacular mountain views make today’s walk one of the most memorable parts of the journey.

After breakfast, we leave Muktinath and begin our descent through the spectacular Kali Gandaki Valley, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Today’s walk offers a fascinating change of scenery, with dramatic cliffs, colorful rock formations, wide riverbeds, and an arid landscape that resembles the Tibetan Plateau.
Rather than following the main trekking route via Kagbeni, we take the quieter and more scenic trail to the traditional village of Lupra, one of the hidden cultural treasures of the Mustang region. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the ancient Bonpo Monastery, one of the few remaining monasteries where the ancient Bon religion, which predates Tibetan Buddhism, is still actively practiced. This unique cultural experience provides a fascinating insight into one of the Himalayas’ oldest spiritual traditions.

Traveling by comfortable tourist-standard private vehicle, we follow the beautiful Prithvi Highway, one of Nepal’s most scenic roads, passing through picturesque countryside, terraced hillsides, traditional villages, lively market towns, and fertile river valleys.
The journey follows the Trishuli River before reaching Mugling, where we turn north and continue alongside the beautiful Marsyangdi River. As we gradually gain elevation, the scenery changes from subtropical landscapes to lush forests, cascading waterfalls, steep river gorges, and towering Himalayan foothills. Along the way, you will enjoy your first distant views of the snow-capped mountains while experiencing everyday life in rural Nepal.

Along the way, you will pass the small settlements of Bhratang and Dhukur Pokhari, where apple orchards, traditional stone houses, and colorful prayer flags add to the charm of the journey.
One of today’s highlights is crossing a long suspension bridge before reaching the magnificent Pisang Valley, where the breathtaking north face of Pisang Peak (6,091 m) rises dramatically above the village. Depending on your fitness level, weather conditions, and your guide’s recommendation, you may hike to Gangapurna Lake and Glacier Viewpoint, Chongkor Viewpoint, or visit the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) Aid Post, where informative presentations on altitude sickness and mountain safety are often available.

The trail passes through the small settlement of Khangsar, one of the last traditional villages before entering the remote Tilicho Valley. Beyond the village, the landscape becomes increasingly wild and breathtaking as the path traverses rocky hillsides, glacial streams, and impressive cliffs beneath towering Himalayan peaks.

Walking at a slow and steady pace, we follow the well-marked trail through the peaceful high-altitude landscape. As the sun rises, the surrounding snow-covered peaks glow with beautiful morning light, creating an unforgettable Himalayan experience.
Upon reaching the summit of Thorong La Pass, take time to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Colorful prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze while breathtaking panoramic views stretch across the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After spending time at the pass, we begin the long descent toward Muktinath, following rugged mountain trails with ever-changing scenery. As we lose altitude, the landscape gradually transforms into the unique, arid terrain of the Mustang region.
Around midday, we stop for lunch at a local teahouse before continuing the final section of the descent to Muktinath, one of Nepal’s most sacred pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists.
After checking into our comfortable teahouse, you may visit the famous Muktinath Temple, where pilgrims come from around the world to pay their respects. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it a wonderful place to reflect on the incredible journey you have completed.

Rather than following the main trekking route via Kagbeni, we take the quieter and more scenic trail to the traditional village of Lupra, one of the hidden cultural treasures of the Mustang region. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the ancient Bonpo Monastery, one of the few remaining monasteries where the ancient Bon religion, which predates Tibetan Buddhism, is still actively practiced. This unique cultural experience provides a fascinating insight into one of the Himalayas’ oldest spiritual traditions.
Around midday, we enjoy lunch at a local teahouse before continuing our trek toward Jomsom. The trail follows the broad Kali Gandaki River, surrounded by magnificent views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, and the rugged landscapes of Lower Mustang.
Upon arrival in Jomsom, the administrative headquarters of the Mustang District, check into your comfortable teahouse and enjoy some free time to explore the town, visit local cafés and bakeries, or simply relax while taking in the beautiful mountain scenery.

If everything goes according to plan and the reserve day is not required, you can simply enjoy a relaxing day in either Pokhara or Kathmandu, depending on your travel schedule.

After breakfast at your hotel in Pokhara, we begin our scenic drive back to Kathmandu along the beautiful Prithvi Highway. The journey follows the Trishuli River, passing through picturesque hills, terraced farmland, traditional villages, lively market towns, and beautiful countryside, offering one final opportunity to experience Nepal’s natural beauty and rural lifestyle.
Along the way, we make several short stops to stretch our legs, enjoy tea or coffee, and take photographs. Lunch is served at a clean local highway restaurant, where you can relax before continuing the journey. Depending on road conditions, traffic, and the season, the drive normally takes between 7 and 9 hours.

The Jomsom–Pokhara flight is weather dependent and usually operates early in the morning when flying conditions are most favorable. Occasionally, strong winds, poor visibility, or other adverse weather conditions may cause flight delays or cancellations. In such situations, E.B.C. Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. will make every effort to arrange the best available alternative transportation to help keep your journey running as smoothly as possible.
If flights are cancelled and are not expected to operate within a reasonable time, we may arrange an overland drive from Jomsom to Pokhara as an alternative. This scenic mountain journey normally takes 8–10 hours, depending on road, traffic, and weather conditions. Although the drive is long, it is a safe and reliable alternative that allows your journey to continue.
To provide greater flexibility, this itinerary includes a Reserve / Contingency Day in Pokhara, helping to minimize any disruption caused by weather-related flight delays or other unforeseen circumstances.
For travelers with additional holiday time, this trek can easily be extended into an even longer Himalayan adventure. Instead of flying or driving directly to Pokhara, you may choose to continue from Jomsom to Tatopani, where you can relax overnight and enjoy the famous natural hot springs before continuing your trek.
From Tatopani, you have several excellent trekking options. Continue to the beautiful Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek for its world-famous sunrise views, follow the peaceful Khopra Danda & Khayer Lake Trek for a quieter off-the-beaten-path experience, or extend your journey to the spectacular Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) for an even more rewarding Himalayan adventure.

Tilicho Lake is one of Nepal’s most beautiful and sacred alpine lakes. 5. Is altitude sickness a concern on this trek?
Yes. Since the trek reaches elevations above 5,000 metres, there is always a possibility of altitude sickness. Our itinerary has been carefully designed with gradual acclimatization, and your guide will monitor your health throughout the trek to help reduce the risks.

The best seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November), when the weather is generally stable, the mountain views are outstanding, and the trekking conditions are at their best. This trek can also be completed during other seasons, except during the monsoon months.
