Mr. Jiku Lama is an Assistant Guide at E.B.C. Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. He is originally from a remote mountain village in Solu-Khumbu District in the Everest region of Nepal and is the proud father of one daughter.
Since childhood, Jiku has lived with a physical disability because he was unable to receive proper medical treatment while growing up in a remote mountain village. Although one of his legs is affected, he has never allowed this to stop him from working hard and supporting his family, especially his daughter’s education.
Because of his physical condition and limited educational opportunities, finding employment was not easy. Recognizing his determination, honesty, and hardworking spirit, we welcomed him to our team as an Assistant Guide. Since then, he has successfully completed many high-altitude treks throughout the Nepal Himalayas.
Although Jiku does not speak English, his warm smile, cheerful personality, and willingness to help speak for themselves. He enjoys singing and dancing to bring joy to our guests and is always ready to support both our team and fellow trekkers whenever needed.
We are also proud that, through the support of our Founder and Managing Director, Mr. Thile Lama Sherpa, and SATHI (Sherpa Aid Throughout Himalayas), https://sathi-project.com/ Jiku’s daughter received educational support that helped her continue her studies and build a brighter future. Today, she is studying and working independently abroad, and we are delighted to see her success.
